A Place with History
The Officer’s Club at Camp San Luis Obispo, built in 1928, is a landmark of vintage charm and military tradition. It is named in honor of Lieutenant General Herbert R. Temple, Jr., whose distinguished career included leadership in the California National Guard, key assignments with the 40th Infantry Division, and 12 years on the Army Staff at the Pentagon. In 1986, President Ronald Reagan appointed him as Chief of the National Guard Bureau, overseeing more than half a million Army and Air Guardsmen nationwide.
Weddings & Special Events at the Officer’s Club
The Officer’s Club blends its timeless character with versatile spaces designed for memorable gatherings:
- Ballroom: Seats up to 300 guests beneath 15-foot ceilings with dramatic draping and twinkle lighting. A 30′ x 30′ dance floor and stage complete the perfect reception setting.
- Outdoor Patio: Expand your event outdoors with a lighted patio for larger celebrations.
- Fireplace Room: A 20′ x 40′ space with wood-beamed ceilings, accent lighting, and French doors opening to the veranda. Perfect for welcoming guests, showcasing memorabilia, serving appetizers, or hosting intimate ceremonies.
- Library: Connected to the Fireplace Room with a pass-through fireplace, offering a warm and inviting backdrop.
- Lounge & Bar Area: Includes hardwood floors, french doors, and a full-service bar—ideal for luncheons, small meetings, or casual gatherings. The Club holds a full bar license and provides all bar service for events.
- State-of-the-Art Kitchen: Fully equipped for caterers with an industrial stove/oven, refrigerator, hot holding cabinets, ice maker, coffee service, and more.
- Grounds & Photo Opportunities: The property is surrounded by scenic and historic features, offering elegant and unique backdrops for your photos.

NCO Club – Camp San Luis Obispo
The NCO Club, also known as Parker Hall, has been a gathering place at Camp San Luis Obispo since 1971. Its origins date back to 1967 when Battery C, 144th Field Artillery, established one of the first clubs on post to serve soldiers and their families. Over the years, the Club has relocated, expanded, and modernized, with support from the Sergeants Major Association of California and the California Military Department. Dedicated in honor of Command Sergeant Major Hester Parker, the facility continues to carry forward its legacy of service and camaraderie.
Today, the NCO Club offers both history and modern amenities, making it a versatile venue for military functions, private events, and community gatherings. The facility features:
- A kitchen
- Bar and food staging areas
- An outdoor Santa Maria–style barbecue
- Two event rooms for small or large groups
- A dance floor for receptions and celebrations
- With its unique blend of tradition, charm, and functionality, the NCO Club provides a memorable setting on California’s Central Coast.
