California State Guard Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major (CA) Rebecca M. Wolkenhauer enlisted into the California State Guard in 2007. She has served in numerous positions of increasing responsibility, including Troop Command Senior Recruiting NCO; External Affairs NCOIC; C5 Strategic Plans and Policy NCOIC; First Sergeant, HQ HHC; and C3 Plans and Operations Sergeant Major. Command Sergeant Major (CA) Wolkenhauer was selected as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding General of the California State Guard in June, 2025. She is the first female and first non-prior federal service member to serve in this position.
Command Sergeant Major (CA) Wolkenhauer’s awards include: California Medal of Merit with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, California Commendation Medal with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, California State Service Ribbon, California State Military Reserve Training Excellence Ribbon, California State Military Reserve Recruiting Achievement Ribbon, California State Military Reserve Professional Development Ribbon, California State Military Reserve Drill Attendance Ribbon, and the California State Military Reserve Recruiter Badge.
Command Sergeant Major (CA) Wolkenhauer works full-time for the California Military Department as the Sergeant Major for the Government Affairs Directorate and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis. She resides on her family ranch in the Sierra Foothills, where she spends her free time riding her horse and hiking with her dogs.
