Brigadier General Marlena A. DeCelle

Brigadier General Marlena A. DeCelle currently serves as the Deputy Commanding General – Support, 40th Infantry Division. In 2023, during the 40 ID’s deployment to the CENTCOM theater, served as the Deputy Commanding General – Support, Task Force Spartan. Prior to joining the Sunburst Division, she concurrently served as the Commander, 49th Military Police Brigade, California Army National Guard and as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G1, California Army National Guard in Sacramento, California. Prior to this, she concurrently served as the Vice Chief of Staff, California Army National Guard and Deputy Commander, 49th Military Police Brigade, California Army National Guard. Brigadier General DeCelle’s previous assignments include Commander, Recruiting and Retention Battalion, Executive Officer, 100th Troop Command; Executive Officer for the Commander, California Army National Guard; Commander, 49th Human Resources Company; Executive Officer, 49th Personnel Services Battalion; and Brigade S-1, 100th Troop Command.

Before joining the California Army National Guard, Brigadier General DeCelle served with the United States Army in leadership positions of increased responsibility at the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, KY and 13th Corps Support Command, Fort Cavazos, TX.

Brigadier General DeCelle’s civilian and military education include: Master of Strategic Studies, US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA; Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Murray State University, KY; Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics and Sociology-Law & Society, University of California, Davis; Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS; Recruiting and Retention Commander’s Course, Professional Education Center, AR; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Course; Adjutant General Corps Captain Career Course, Fort Jackson, SC; Combined Arms & Services Staff School, Fort Leavenworth, KS; Adjutant General Officer Basic Course, Fort Jackson, SC; and Homeland Response Force (HRF) Course.
Her military awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Assault Badge; and the Parachutist Badge Brigadier General DeCelle is married to Lt Colonel (Retired) Ken DeCelle. They reside and raise their four children: Kenny (21), Malia (19), Kyan (16) and Mailani (11) in Vacaville, CA. Brigadier General DeCelle has a family history of military service: Father Michael is a Navy Veteran and brothers Matthew (Lieutenant Colonel) and Michael (Major) both serve in the Army.
