Corporal Glenn James Watkins, 42, of Carlsbad, California, was killed in action in Baghdad, Iraq on 5 April 2005.  Corporal Watkins' vehicle was destroyed by a vehicle-born improvised explosive device (IED) while deployed with Company B, 1st Battalion, 161st Infantry (TF Baghdad), Washington Army National Guard, and former member of Company A (-), 1st Battalion 184th Infantry, California Army National Guard, while serving in the War on Terrorism/Operation Iraqi Freedom.   Specialist Watkins received awards and decorations from the United States Army, the Washington Army National Guard and the State of California.  His awards and decorations include the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal second award, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medals with M device second award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal second award, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, the Navy and Marine Expeditionary Medal, the Navy "E" Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge and Parachute Badge.
