Weekly Update on Cal Guard Involvement in California’s Statewide Firefighting Effort

The following is an update on the California National Guard’s support of interagency wildfire efforts. At
present, the following Cal Guard assets and personnel are actively fighting wildfires across the state:

2 C130J Airtankers

 • Air National Guard pilots and air crews
 • Active on Rey Fire
 • Gallons dropped to-date: 81,000
 • Equipped with water/retardant-dropping Modular Airborne Firefighting Systems (MAFFS)

4 CH-47 Chinook Helicopters

 • Army National Guard pilots and air crews
 • Active on Rey Fire
 • Search-and-rescue, water-drop, transportation/cargo, and hoist capabilites

4 UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopters

 • Army National Guard pilots and air crews
 • Active on Rey Fire and Chimney fires
 • Medical evacuation, search-and-rescue, water-drop, transportation/cargo, and hoist capabilites

330 Handcrew Personnel

 • Army National Guard combat engineers and support personnel
 • Active on Soberanes Fires
 • Man-hours worked to date: 59,076
 • Work firelines with hand tools to create breaks in fire and mop up hotspots after fire passes
