Mission

Provide liaison between the California Military Department and elected officials at state and federal levels concerning policies and legislative agendas in order to ensure adequate resourcing for state and federal mission accomplishment.

State Legislation

External Affairs monitors all pending state legislation that may positively or negatively, directly or indirectly, affect California National Guard members, Reservists, veterans, the Military Department, as well as legislation that affects state general government, which determines how state agencies operate and what oversight and requirements state departments must adhere to per state law.  External Affairs works directly with the California Legislature and the Governor to inform and promote good laws and policies for California National Guard members.
