The J-4 serves as the primary staff officer responsible for joint logistics operations and serves as advisor to the JFHQ Commander for all Joint logistic matters related to joint operations of Homeland Security and State Emergency missions. The J-4 is the proponent for logistics planning and policies for the department, and manages the logistical functions not directly associated with component readiness. The J-4 coordinates with service specific logistic staff functions to ensure the logistical preparedness status of the services is continuously available to the JFHQ Commander. The J4 plans and conducts logistical command post exercises which provide for the timely flow of logistical capability information to the Joint Force Headquarters. The J4 provides direct supervision of accountability of non-unit state owned and controlled property.
